Description2-Methylquinoxaline belongs to the class of organic compounds known as quinoxalines. Quinoxalines are compounds containing a quinoxaline moiety, a bicyclic heterocycle made up of a benzene ring fused to a pyrazine ring. 2-Methylquinoxaline is a moderately basic compound (based on its pKa). 2-Methylquinoxaline is a phenolic, burnt, coffee and nutty tasting compound. It has a toasted, coffee and fruity odour. 2-Methylquinoxaline is a flavouring compound. 2-Methylquinoxaline is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
