Description3-Tert-butylphenol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alkylphenols. These are organic compounds containing an hydroxybenzene moiety substituted by an alkyl group. 3-Tert-butylphenol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). 3-Tert-butylphenol is one of three isomers, the other two being 2-tert-butylphenol and 4-tert-butylphenol. 3-Tert-butylphenol has been detected in the volatile fraction of Cannabis sativa samples, obtained from police seizures (PMID: 26657499 ).
